V. Kabir Veitas

I am a PhD researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB, Brussels, Belgium), research assistant at the Center Leo Apostel and a member of Evolution, Complexity and Cognition and Global Brain Institute groups. I am also an AI Researcher at SingularityNET where I am developing a conceptual and software framework of decentralized economy — Offer Networks.

My PhD research project is called “Open Ended Intelligence: a computational perspective” (here is a short presentation of the early stages of the research still carrying different title). It is about understanding mind and cognition (human, artificial, extraterrestrial…) by simulating and modeling cognitive development and aspects of it in a radically decentralized fashion.

Previously I was a research assistant at the Global Brain Institute where I was doing computer modeling and simulation of the Global Brain based on a mathematical model. Also, I was researching aspects of social integration of advanced autonomous robots at imec-SMIT-VUB.

  1. Great website you have here but I was wondering if you knew of any community forums that cover the same topics talked about in this article? I’d really love to be a part of online community where I can get opinions from other knowledgeable people that share the same interest. If you have any recommendations, please let me know. Thanks!

    1. Hi, Rene.
      Thanks for your comment. Regarding the question: if you mean community forums about artificial / synthetic cognitive development, I am not sure I know the ones which cover exactly that, at least according to my definition. Nevertheless, there are a lot of resources which come close from different perspectives. Some of them are:

      • EUCog network (European Network for the Advancement of Artificial Cognitive Systems, Interaction and Robotics) http://eucognition.org/. They have Twitter, Facebook, etc.
      • My current favorite is NuPIC community, which is somewhat more techically oriented, but they have a strong conceptual background too http://numenta.org/blog/
      • Another initiative is OpenCog, but they do not have very large and/or active presence on the web: http://opencog.org/;
      • You can alse check my Scoop.it page (I try to collect releant blog posts articles): http://www.scoop.it/t/cogmach

      Hope that helps,
      V.
